Wrap your intake if you have a cone filter in the engine compartment with aluminium foil and the ignition and wires if you can. Simple green or orange blast works fine and I noticed that magic wadding metal polish works good on stock valve covers and damn they shine waxin the painted surfaces in there also helps keepin it clean 4 a longer time period too

If its really dirty I do the same as stated.I use simple green and let it sit a little and use a fine spray to hose it off.I also do not get the PCM computer soaking wet.NO-NO.Mostly I try to wipe as much as possible with a bucket and and lightly soapy water. Then I'll wipe all the hoses with some kind of treatment so they don't dryrot and they look new.

Recently I needed to clean the motor as it was very dirty and the engine compartment was also in a disgusting state. It's good that I was advised to use the Optima steam cleaner. I decided to look at the reviews on the Internet Do not buy the Optima steamer before reading this for which I was able to adequately assess the capabilities of this unit. Using a more powerful steam cleaner, I was able to quickly and safely clean all parts of the car without damaging the wiring and engine compartment surfaces. I recommend.
