Okay, hear me out....

It is TOO expensive to be driving out to DPA and/or AP!!! So... for the others that are suffering just as much as I am, (Face the fact, i miss you guys too...) can the CITY crew have a local meet? It is well known that DPA is home of the NY Chapter, but with things the way they have been, there is no way I can get out there every friday... or even some fridays. I don't even remember when the last time i was out there. If anyone is with me on this... let's set it up...

What do you think?

HOZAY!!!! There are plenty of places to go... it's not to be a major meet. It's just for the locals, more or less. See everyone that goes to DPA lives out there... for people like me and cokey, thats 80 miles going and coming... and with gas... HAH!!! There are things, plenty of things to do. And when i say the city, i mean the BOROUGHS- not only Manhattan.

But seriously, what do you think?

I'm sure if u can whip something up where everyone can meet and not have any hassles, you'd get a good crowd. DPA is far for people who don't live in Long Island. I'm sure a bunch of us Jersey guys would go as long as we dont have to drive through Manhattan.

we had a meet in the bronx last summer. that worked out pretty well. did some cruising as someone ended up with a flat tire and we went around for hours trying to find a replacement (it was sunday...not so easy since we have retarded stock size tires). we ended up going to a spanish resturant. it was a good time. we should do that again....

I was thinking about trying to set up a weekly Queens meet
Theres and Apple Bees on 188th street right off the LIE(fairly big parking lot in the back, or at Queens Center Mall, but would have to meet in the indoor parkinglot

does it have to be friday nights? wouldn't it be better to have it some other day so that people from LI can come to the "boroughs" meet if they want to? how about that big shopping center (gateway center) on the belt parkway (exit 15) with like boulder creek, olive garden (not really sure), etc. it should be accessible to all boroughs (and NJ) through the van wyck and the belt.

just my suggestion.

I'd come out from Suffolk for meets.

i like the ideas... so if not Friday... when?
Friday is DPA
Saturday is Aviation Plaza
And if we aren't going to take Fri from DPA we can't take Sat from NJ

Gateway Plaza as in Erskine St., right?

We don't want to setup so many local meets. One borough meet, one long island meet, one westchester meet, one jersey meet... keep it like that. like dynasty said, with so many local meets, we don't want to over power the main ones. Got me?

So... Applebee's was asked to be out of the option because everyone has already had everything on the menu. And even if so.. Queens Center??? Meet in an indoor lot??? Are you nuts?

So first, would we like to meet in an area full of shops and restaurants? If so Erskine would be ideal... even College Point. And a lot of members know where College Point is... If not at a place with shops, etc. would you like to do it at a park so we can all chill? For example, someone mentioned Astoria park under the 59th St. Bridge (queensboro bridge). How does that sound?

I appreciate all the replies guys, so keep them coming.... And let's try to hurry so we can have our first meet by next week.. :p

Amiga-you've got a great idea for a borough meet: ;)

Astoria park has nothing around--isn't is dark and dingy?
Whitestone (College point)-by the Boulder Creek/Starbucks/McDonalds is a good choice with ample parking-although around 2200 retail shopping is done and the lot starts to clear with security cruising around.
Georgia diner off Queens Blvd-(I recall) has a big parking lot in the back-but private property.
Other choices with surrounding retail would be sections of Northern Blvd-as well as Queens Blvd.

It is also tough for NJ peeps to come into boroughs: they would be cutting through Manhattan 33% of the time, Brooklyn 33% and GWB 33% - all of them tough choices-depending on TOD.
