I dunno how much truth there is to this.

A friend of mine said that swapping our alternator out for a viper one will give you BIG hp gains. (hes talking like 30-40 at the wheels)

I dunno how true this could be but i thought i would post it up. :head_scra

Edit: It supposedly just bolts right on.

physics

There is little to none as far as truth. You would increase a few pounds under the hood w/the larger ALT you would be lugging around...nothing more. Larger current = 30-40 HP?? Come on!....do folks study physics in HS anymore?

We're talking two forms of energy here: amps vs. hp => Electromagnetic forces at work vs. internal combustion...would not be directly related to an increase 30-40 hp.

Stock: 230 + 35 (ave) = 265/230 = 15% increase. There is only one thing on the market that can singlehandedly increase HP by 15% and that is a large hair dryer.
