I have been sitting here wondering this for awhile. All I hear from ricers is how i wish I had a lancer or a pink sticker wrx because they are so superior in every way. Yet anyone knowledgeable about cars knows that rwd is the best setup for autox, drag racing, well pretty much any racing.
Anyone remember the thread about the ls1 and the evo following it on the on ramp, so the ls1 hit the gas, the evo lost control trying to keep up, and ended up in the median all ripped up?

I may be talking out of my ass here, but I think that for amateurs, AWD is easier to drive fast than RWD, as the consequences of being over-entusiastic are usually understeer, as opposed to oversteer.
All 4 wheels turning isn't the best, not to mention all the drivetrain loss, how hard it is to get a car moving with all 4 wheels from higher speeds, and it takes twice as much hp too make as much to the wheels as a rwd car. It's better to push yourself through a turn.

Oh, I agree with you. I was just refering to user-friendlieness(sp?) of AWD for amateur drivers, which make up %99.98 of drivers, myself included.

tHE REASON WHY is AWD is so easy to drive when compared to RWD.

Coming from a FWD car to RWD car was a huge adjustment for me. I wont go back either only for winter beaters.

AWD is easy they handle like FWD for the most part. They usually understeer but can be made to oversteer. The Advantige is u can put all ur power down coming out of a corner were If I did that I would have massive oversteer :D Although fun it is slow. RWD is faster when driven correctly but AWD is just that much easier to drive.

RWD in ICe racing that would be fun.

WRC used to be all RWD cars up until the AUDI.

why do you think in baseball they have to leave the bat at the plate and get called out for throwing it? Damn them and their politically correct games. It used to be a white guy would hit a ball and get the chance to beat the slaves put on 3 bases depending on how fast he can run.

It used to be about the game, now..... I just don't know anymore.

wow...so i guess ur headed to a klan meeting after u leave the forums :hitlerdan

back to the topic...AWD is easier to drive and is great for WRC. a sniper rifle is only effective if u know how to aim. i know it's a shytty comparison...lol...but if u dont know how to autocross then AWD is great. if u know wat ur doin then step up and get a RWD car to dominate the course.
